Brainbench Certifications Free Through May 31, 2006

The Brain Bench tests are fairly challenging assessments, but if you know an area well, you can score well on the assessment. It is a nice, free (for a short time) way to validate your skills and be able to prove them up to an employer.

¡Viva el 5 de mayo!

Today is the celebration of Cinco de Mayo or the 5th of May. Mexicans fighting French invaders successfully defended a fort with 2000 troops against 6000 troops. This celebration symbolizes Mexican independence.

One of the heroes of this story is, not surprisingly, a lawyer (Did you know Nelson Mandela and Ghandi were both lawyers?). President Benito Juárez, a lawyer and full blooded Zapotec Indian led the resistance. While the French did eventually install their own government, the Mexicans continued to pursue independence and the rule of the French was short.

Today, those of us who are not Mexican can join those of Mexican heritage and celebrate freedom and independence!

A Clean House Reduces Stress

Apparently, the detergent and soap people commissioned this study. http://www.lexisone.com/balancing/articles/040006g.html A little conflict of interest perhaps, but I suspect they are on to something none-the-less. Not only does a clean environment help you feel better physically and mentally, it is a symbol for the rest of your life. Have you ever noticed that when you clean up one part of your life, you start cleaning and clearing in another?
